History

On November 23, 1960, in the city of Porto, Companhia Industrial de Resinas Sintéticas, CIRES, SA was established, with five Portuguese and two Japanese companies as shareholders, which constituted the first Portuguese-Japanese industrial joint-venture in post-war Europe.

On November 23, 1962, precisely two years after the company was set up, the Estarreja factory produced the first batch of PVC in Portugal. In the meantime, it was possible to plan, design and build-up the plant and recruit and train the technical staff in a record time, even for the Japanese standards at that time.
