Bio-Attributed PVC

GROWING SUSTAINABLY TOGETHER

A new sustainable generation

of PVC tiers

CIRES remains focused on contributing to a better world, investing in the development of technology to reduce the environmental impact of the manufacturing process. As part of this work, the launch of the new LiteVin brand VICIR® – A new sustainable generation of polyvinyl chloride suspension (S-PVC) and emulsion (E-PVC) grades – represents a significant contribution to decarbonization and one more step towards the circular economy.

LiteVin VICIR® represents a new range of PVC with bio-circular attribution and certified according to the International System of Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC PLUS), using the mass balance approach. Thus, these products have the same composition/CAS number as conventionally produced PVC and behave in the same way during processing.

By using a plant-based, circular feedstock with a lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) when compared to fossil fuel sources, LiteVin VICIR® Polymers enable our customers to bring products to market with a lower carbon footprint. . Depending on the type of PVC (S-PVC or E-PVC), the estimated GWP reduction can exceed 70%, which represents a significant achievement of our long-term sustainability commitment.

Mass balance allocation reduces the use of fossil-based raw materials conventionally used in PVC production and allows our customers to supply the market with products with a lower carbon footprint.

MASS BALANCE CERTIFICATION

We selected the ISCC PLUS system to certify our bio-circular PVC gratings according to a mass balance attribution approach. ISCC is a globally applicable sustainability certification system that covers all sustainable feedstocks, including agricultural biomass and forestry, circular and renewable materials.

The ISCC certification scheme requires strict traceability with a chain of custody based on a mass balance assignment that is verified by independent auditors.
